So, what’s next?
March 10, 2008 – 5:14 pmWith the spate of re-makes of old movies and TV shows in the past few years, I can’t help but wonder what’s next. Hollywood has remade the Flintstones, Starsky & Hutch, Dukes Of Hazzard, Scooby Doo, Bewitched, and many other old TV shows and movies.
Since they’ve done the Flintstones, are they planning on doing a live-action version of The Jetsons? I don’t know about you, but I could definitely see Danny DeVito as Mr. Spacely.
Although The Munsters have had some movies, they aren’t really re-makes. For some strange reason, I have a feeling that if this one was being re-made, Lindsay Lohan would be cast as Marilyn. Howie Long as Herman? No, I just can’t see him in a leading role in a movie.
Three’s Company? I don’t think so. A joke based on a misunderstanding can carry a 30 minute sitcom, but not a 90 minute movie.
I could possibly imagine a re-make of Hair, centered around someone being sent to Iraq instead of Vietnam.
On the other hand, do we really need more re-makes of movies and TV shows that have already been done. It’s probably time for the writers to start coming up with something original again. What do you think?
